Shanika Lee is the director and head coach of the Purple Diamonds, a dance team from Jackson, Mississippi.
Personal Life[]
Shanika Kelly Lee was born on August 14, 1979 in Jackson, Mississippi. She attended Lanier High School and then Mississippi College.
She was a dancer at Jackson State University and she earned a degree in Psychology. She was part of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., specifically the Clinton, Mississippi chapter. She has three sons with her husband Leroy Lee: Samuel Trevon 'Tre' Lee, Leroy Caiden 'LJ' Lee II and Johnathan Lee.

Season 2 []
After their last meeting in Shut Up and Dance which ended in controversy, Shanika sets up a meeting with the Dancing Dolls. Shanika apologises for the disrespect some of her dancers showed to the Dolls at their last competition. She states that the girls responsibly have been told off and it will not happen again. The Dolls accept the apology.
Shanika is watching her captain, Natalya, practice her solo. Shanika encourages Natalya to put more energy into her solo and to keep pushing herself so she can beat the Dolls' captain.
Shanika joins her team during the stand battle and the judges love her addition to the battle.
Shanika watches her former dancer, Jalen, dance with their rival team, the Dancing Dolls. She is impressed with Jalen and applauds her when the performance is over.
Season 3 []
Shanika reveals that Tamia and Zatia have joined her team, which she describes as "a wonderful decision". She decides to use both dancers in a stand for the stand battle.
Season 4 []
Shanika has a conversation with Dianna before the start of the competition where she expresses how confident is she that her team will win.
