Purple Diamonds is a dance team from Jackson, Mississippi. The team is led by Shanika Lee.
Overview[]
The Purple Diamonds was formed in 2007 in Jackson, Mississippi by Shanika Lee. The team is based in the Diamond Dance Company studio and there are various teams which consist of female dancers from the ages of 4 to 17:
- Diamonds Minis (ages 4-6)
- Diamond Misses (ages 7-11)
- Purple Diamonds (ages 12-17)
The dance company specialises in majorette. They are the hometown rivals of the Dancing Dolls.

During Bring It![]
Season 1[]
The Purple Diamonds throw a stand where they imitate themselves beating the Dancing Dolls. After a few rounds of the stand battle, the Purple Diamonds are declared the winners. However, two of the dancers run out to the middle of the stage during the awards ceremony and shake their butts at the Dolls.
Season 2[]
The Purple Diamonds meet up with the Dolls to discuss what happened at their previous meeting. Shanika apologised for the incident on behalf of the dancers.
At the competition, the Purple Diamonds decide to not compete in the creative dance and focus solely on the stand battle. During the stand battle, Natalya turns around to consult her teammates on which stand to throw next. They throw a chair stand where the dancers must do the splits using the chair. One of the dancers falls during this move. In another stand, the Diamond Misses are used. The Purple Diamonds win the stand battle and the dancers go over and hug the Dolls.
Natalya is chosen to do the solo and Shanika encourages her to put more energy into practice and to push herself more.
At the competition, the Purple Diamonds lost to the Dazzling Divas of Macon in the stand battle semi-finals. Natalya wins the captain's solo.
The team are creating a stand called "DD4L", which has a dancer dressed as Miss D who will 'cut' some of the dancers. There is also a dancer who will dress as Sunjai.
At the competition, the "DD4L" stand is thrown which riles up the Dancing Dolls. They later attempt to lift a girl during a stand but one of the dancers drops her. Finally, they bring out a drum major in another stand. They lose the stand battle to the Dancing Dolls.
The Purple Diamonds are battling the Dancing Dolls in the semi-finals of the Battle Royale. Shanika joins her dancers during one of the stands which the judges love. This leads to Miss D joining her dancers on stage too. The Purple Diamonds lose to the Dancing Dolls.
The rivalry between the Purple Diamonds and the Dancing Dolls is addressed and there is an extended clip of the stand battle between the two teams at the Battle Royale.
One of the former Purple Diamonds dancers, Jalen, has joined the Dancing Dolls. At the competition, two of the Purple Diamond's parents start shouting at Jalen's mother, Nashamba.
The team are battling Fierce Elite in the semi-finals of the stand battle and they win. In the finals, the team are battling the Dancing Dolls. The Purple Diamonds are thrown by a stand from the Dolls that involves their former teammate, Jalen. Shanika is impressed with Jalen's performance. The team lose to the Dancing Dolls.
Season 3[]
Two of the Dancing Dolls have switched teams to the Purple Diamonds, Tamia Whittaker and Zatia Buckner. Shanika decided to use them in a stand in this week's competition.
At the competition, the team performs a Michael Jackson-inspired creative dance routine. The semi-finals of the stand battle have the Purple Diamonds battling Pretty In Pink and the team wins. The battle between the Dolls and the Purple Diamonds begins and the Dolls throw a stand that mocks the Purple Diamonds. The Purple Diamonds perform their stand with Tamia and Zatia who are dressed initially in Dolls' uniforms, which they take off to reveal their Purple Diamonds uniforms. They then throw their old uniforms to the ground and stamp on them. The Purple Diamonds obtained second place in the creative dance category and lost the stand battle.
The Purple Diamonds are battling the Divas of Dance and Elite Starz of Nashville in the stand battle. One of their dancers also performs a solo. Their overall scores in the solo and stand battle are not enough for them to qualify for the Battle Royale the following week.
The Purple Diamonds team up with the Dancing Dolls in the competition this week, which is Jackson vs. Memphis. The Purple Diamonds perform in the creative dance category and then battle the Infamous Dancerettes in the stand battle. They lose to the Infamous Dancerettes and the Dolls lose to the Prancing Tigerettes so Jackson loses the competition.
Season 4[]
The Purple Diamonds win two out of three of the mirror-mirror challenge rounds and thus are the overall winners. They perform multiple different genres for their creative dance which impresses the audience. They lose the creative dance category to the Dancing Dolls.
Secrets, Lies, And Slumber Parties
There is a call-out challenge between the Purple Diamonds, Dancing Dolls and the Elite Starz of Nashville. The first dancer loses to Crystianna Summers, then the second dancer loses to Kanarie Smith, and the third dancer loses to Princess Kelly. Thus the Dancing Dolls beat the Purple Diamonds and the Elite Starz. The Purple Diamonds also lost to the Dancing Dolls in the creative dance category.
Season 5[]
The team are practising their stands for this week's stand battle with Ti'ara, Makya's sister, who is the captain of the team. The team feel confident about their chances in the competition.
At the competition, the Purple Diamonds win the semi-finals of the stand battle against the Divas of Dance and move on to the finals against the Dancing Dolls. The team throw the first stand and the DDP are impressed with the performance. A dancer comes out with a sign that says "Makya vs. Moosie" and this shocks the Dolls. The team set up a fake try-outs scenario where no one auditions for the Dolls but everyone auditions for the Purple Diamonds. Miss D is unimpressed with the stand. The dancers then run out into the middle of the floor and blow dust at the Dancing Dolls.
The Purple Diamonds lose the answer stands category.
